Ms. Vella is the founder of The Helicon Group, and its
current divisions, Golden Bridle Research, GB International, Bellerophon Bio-Genetics and Pegasus Productions.
In 2003, she was the recipient of the SCIP Meritorious
Award. This award is given annually to one individual who has made significant
and meritorious contributions to the
CI profession. It is the highest award SCIP can bestow. She is also co-founder and a member of SCIP’s
Women’s Leadership Council.
Ms. Vella has written numerous articles on business and
competitive intelligence topics for
publications including Senior
Exchange and Mergers & Acquisitions and has been interviewed by Business
Digest. She is co-author of eight
books on competitive intelligence including Bottom Line Competitive
Intelligence, Improved Business Planning Using Competitive Intelligence,
and The Internet Age of Competitive Intelligence.
Ms. Vella has served as a member of the National Advisory Panels to VOLUNTEER, The National Center For Citizen Involvement. She shows her own pedigreed
Japanese Bobtail cats, all of which have achieved championships. She is a
member of the Japanese Bobtail Breeders’ Society. She was an occasional
columnist for National Cat, Australia's
largest cat magazine. Ms. Vella has been a Specialty Judge and member of the
Board of Directors of the American
Cat Fanciers Association. She is a Professional Member of and a former director
of the Cat Writers Association.
Ms. Vella has lived and traveled extensively abroad.
She has a working knowledge of the
French, German, and Italian languages. She received the Director's Award from the Cat
Writers Association for
her work in putting on the CWA
Annual Educational Meeting and the Certificate of Appreciation for Services from the Board of Directors of the American Cat Fanciers Association. Ms.
Vella is also a member of the National Association of Women Writers. She is listed
in numerous professional directories,
including Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in US
Executives, The International Authors
And Writers Who's Who, International Leaders In Achievement,
International Who's Who of Intellectuals, The International Directory of Distinguished Leadership, The World Who's Who Of Women, International Who's

Mr. McGonagle is co-author
of eight books on competitive intelligence including A Manager’s Guide to
Competitive Intelligence, and Protecting Your Firm Against Competitive.
He is the research editor of the Arthur
Andersen European Community Sourcebook.
Mr. McGonagle is the author
or co-author
of numerous business, competitive intelligence, law and economics articles, and
has served as an expert witness on competitive intelligence and related topics.
He is a member of the faculty of the Institute for
Competitive Intelligence. He has been an adjunct lecturer at Lehigh University
and Allentown College, teaching competitive intelligence (a course he
developed) and business policy, as well as an Assistant Professor in the College of Business at Kutztown University.
Mr. McGonagle is a member of SCIP, the Society of
Competitive Intelligence Professionals, is a columnist and book review editor
for SCIP’s hard copy and online publications. He has been a featured presenter
at the SCIP 1996, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 Annual
International Conferences. Mr. McGonagle received the prestigious Fellows Award
in 1998 from SCIP, and received the Meritorious
Award in 2007. He was a member of the Professional Advisory Board to the Journal
of Competitive Intelligence and Management. Mr. McGonagle has previously
served as a member of the team that designed the SCIP Team Excellence Award
(TEA), the SCIP Board of Directors
Committee on Ethics, and the 2000 and 2001 TEA assessment committees. He has
also served as a member of Nominating Committees for
the SCIP Board of Directors,
Catalyst Award and Fellows Award.
Mr. McGonagle is a member of the Society for Insurance
Research, the Marketing Research Association, and the Association for Strategic
Planning. He was a featured speaker at the ASP 2008 Annual Conference and has
been a member of the John Goodman Award Committee since 2008.
He has been a private sector
volunteer consultant to the Congressional Office of Technology Assessment's
"Communications Systems for an
Information Age" study. Mr.
McGonagle formerly served with the
President's Private Sector Survey on
Cost Control (the Grace Commission). He has held senior
staff and officer positions for major financial services and insurance corporations.
Mr. McGonagle is a Professional Member of the Cat Writers Association, where he served as chair of
the membership committee. He also was a Specialty Judge with the American Cat
Fanciers Association, where he received the Certificate of Appreciation for Services from the Board of Directors.
Mr. McGonagle holds a B.A. from Yale College (Economics –
Intensive), a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School (With Honors), an LL.M. from the George
Washington University (Urban Legal Studies – With Highest Honors), and an M.A. from the Wharton School of the
University of Pennsylvania (Business and Applied Economics).
